JKPL and Bookmobile resumes operations
The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library and the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library’s Bookmobile Outreach Services will resume normal operations today, Oct. 16, 2019. The public library’s normal hours of operation are as follows: Tuesday to Friday, 10am–6pm, and Saturday, 9am–4pm, and closed austerity Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, and holidays. (PR)

Third writers’ workshop set
Plan your novel with us. The third Marianas Writers’ Movement workshop is on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, from 1pm to 3pm. This workshop will focus on creating characters for the novel you’ll write in November! Admission is free and open to people age 13 and over. Be a part of the Marianas Writers’ Movement!  This project is part of the “Rekindling Marianas Narratives: Write Your Novel!” mini-grant program and is made possible by support from the Northern Marianas Humanities Council, a non-profit, private corporation funded in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Master’s degree options at UOG
Those considering a master’s degree now or in the future will have an opportunity to explore 15 options available at the University of Guam through the university’s Graduate Program Recruitment Fair this Thursday. The fair is open to the public and will take place from 4pm to 7pm in the Micronesian ballroom at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa.

The fair will feature tables for each of UOG’s graduate programs and will also provide opportunities for attendees to speak first-hand with current graduate students and faculty. Financial aid and admissions assistance will also be available, including information on available scholarships and assistantships. Pupus will be provided.

The University of Guam offers the following master’s degrees: Master of Arts in Counseling, Master of Arts in English, Master of Arts in Micronesian Studies, Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Education in Administration and Supervision, Master of Education in Reading (online degree program), Master of Education in Secondary Education, Master of Education in Special Education, Master of Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Master of Public Administration, Master of Science in Biology, Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, Master of Science in Environmental Science, Master of Science in Sustainable Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, and Professional Master of Business Administration (available on-campus or online).

SHRM meeting on Oct. 23
The Society for Human Resource Management NMI Chapter is inviting its members, associated HR and management staff, and interested members of the public to attend its next general membership meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Pacific Islands Club Saipan’s Charley’s Cabaret beginning at 11am.

The meeting will feature PSS Cooperative Education program coordinator Brandon Nicholas and Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence executive director Maisie Tenorio. This meeting is open to the public.
