Join experts in conservation and management from the CNMI and Guam at the 3rd Annual Marianas Terrestrial Conservation Conference & Workshop, which will be held on Nov. 18-20, at the Hibiscus Hall of Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan in Garapan.

This will be the first time the conference will be held on Saipan. The conference was started by Dr. Haldre Rogers, a professor at Iowa State University, who saw the need for an actual scientific conference for scientists and researchers working on conservation issues in the CNMI and Guam.

Division of Fish and Wildlife’s Jill Liske-Clark, one of the volunteer-organizers, said the conference is a chance for the CNMI public to hear about the researches and conservation programs on the islands.

Registration is free and open to the public, and will include presentations on terrestrial conservation, field trips and activities such as pre-conference proa rides and Mariana swiftlet field trip, and a lizard identification trip at American Memorial Park. To register, visit marianasterrestrialconservation.org. It also includes a birding trip, tree planting for Yutu recovery, Jeffrey’s Beach tour, and native limestone forest hike.

For more information about the conference, or for donations (financial or in-kind) to help with organizational costs as well as to raise funds to enable students to travel to the conference to present their research, email Jill Liske-Clark at liskeclark.cnmidfw@gmail.com.
