The CNMI has been invited by the Oceania Weightlifting Federation to participate in the Oceania Talent Identification Program.

Under OTIP, one student from the Commonwealth will have an opportunity to train in New Caledonia in December, joining representatives of other countries in the region. The selected students will attend an eight-day training camp at the Oceania Weightlifting Institute in Mont Dore and will be with many top weightlifters in the Pacific.

Students selected will be provided with free airline ticket, accommodations and meals, and transportation.

The OTIP program, which started in September and is open until October, is done during the sports period of participating school. The national weightlifting federation of the OWF-member countries will be responsible for selecting its representative to the training camp, which is open for either a female or male student.

The Northern Mariana Islands Weightlifting Federation has yet to announce the mechanics for selecting its representative to the OTIP.
