HONOLULU, HI—Lynker Technologies, LLC will be doing a new survey of Saipan residents early next year.

The study will provide information about residents’ past and current use of eight sites around the island: Mañagaha Island; the Grotto; Obyan Beach; Lao Lao Bay; Ladder Beach; Hidden Beach; Micro Beach; and Pau Pau Beach.

The survey will be asking the public about their perceptions of crowding and environmental conditions at these sites, as well as previous and current expectations they may have had for their recreational experiences at these sites.

“We have several different ways in mind to obtain our survey sample, but we welcome all those who want to take the survey,” said Dr. Christopher Hawkins, director of Lynker’s Sustainable Pacific Program. “We want to hear from as many Saipan residents as possible.”

This project is being funded by a grant to Lynker from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Coral Reef Conservation Program. The federal government is not involved in the development, implementation, or analysis of the survey.

Lynker’s creative and highly-flexible Sustainable Pacific Program was created to help non-profits and local governments in the Pacific Islands, West Coast, and Alaska involved in important ocean, coastal, fisheries, and other environmental work.
