EOC reports 2 earthquakes in the CNMI this week

The CNMI Homeland Security & Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Center reported two earthquakes that occurred in the CNMI this week, the first being at 4.9-magnitude earthquake centered at 254 kilometers northwest of Farallon de Pajaros last Tuesday and the second a 4-magnitude earthquake located 132 kilometers northeast of Agrihan yesterday.

EOC reports that the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue any tsunami warnings or advisories.

Last Monday, an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.6 occurred off the coast of central Chile, and the National Weather Service’s Pacific Tsunami Warning Center also reported no tsunami threat to the CNMI or Guam.

For more information, contact the CNMI EOC State Warning Point at (670) 237-8000. The EOC Warning Point also states possible area advisories for military trainings happening on other islands in the CNMI, special weather and marine advisories for the CNMI.
