Hopes for a ‘true revival’ of Japan tourism market pinned on regular Skymark flights
Commonwealth Ports Authority board chair Kimberlyn King-Hinds is pinning her hopes on the regular international flight service that Skymark Airlines Inc. plans to kick off this December to signal a true revival of the Japan market for CNMI’s tourism industry.
King-Hinds said yesterday other board members are also hoping the regular flights from Narita to Saipan will expand opportunities for the people of the Marianas to explore Japan through this gateway.
“We are excited and looking forward to welcoming Skymark’s regularly scheduled flights to the Marianas,” she told Saipan Tribune.
She said they hope CPA’s Airline Incentive Program will complement Skymark’s business plan and provide them with the necessary support to sustain the daily flights to and from Japan.
King-Hinds congratulated Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and the Marianas Visitors Authority for “their hard work and efforts” to develop this relationship with Skymark.
Skymark, a low-cost domestic airline based in Japan, has announced the launch of its first-ever regular international service, a non-stop flight connecting Narita and Saipan by the end of December 2019.
The regular service between Narita and Saipan will be once daily, with a flight time of approximately three and a half hours.
