MPU eases past Shirley’s

MP United Football Club coasted to a 5-1 victory over Shirley’s FC in the boys U15 division game in the 2019 NMIFA Fall Youth League last Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Andrew Chung powered MP United to the easy win after scoring three goals. His back-to-back conversions in the 13th and 29th minute gave MP United a good start. Chung then completed the hat trick in the 55th minute, while earlier in the 37th, Kristopher Pascual made it three in a row for MP United. Dev Bachani was the third MP United player to score in the lopsided match, as he closed out for the winning team in the 69th minute.

Shirley’s Football Club averted a shutout loss after drawing a goal from Devin Igisomar in the 41st minute.

Spring season champion Kanoa Football Club kicked off its campaign in the fall competition with back-to-back victories.

Kanoa first dueled TanHoldings FC in a make-up match last Thursday and won by three.

Jaydee Jose knocked in a pair of goals in his first game this season, while Brian Lubao and Markus Toves delivered one apiece for Kanoa. All of Kanoa’s goals were made in the second half with Toves drawing first blood after scoring in the 46th minute. Three minutes later, Jose lit up the board anew for Kanoa, while Lubao gave their team a 3-0 advantage after finding the back of the net in the 53rd minute.

TanHoldings also did not score in the first half and ended its long silence in the 65th, thanks to Ariel Narvaez’s goal. However, Kanoa still had the last say with Jose getting his second goal in the 70th minute.

Two days after its season debut win, Kanoa returned to the pitch and picked up where it left off, dominating Matansa.

Again, Jose was on target, as he handed Kanoa two early goals with the first one registered in the fifth minute and the second in the sixth. Chad Escaner added one more for Kanoa in the 10th minute, giving their squad a promising lead going into the break.

When the game resumed, it was Matansa’s turn to score first with Xin Wen Jin hitting his target in the 38th minute. However, it was an all-Kanoa show after that with Daniel Mar Pablo and Merrick Toves delivering the goods for the spring season champion.

Merrick brought Kanoa’s lead back to 3, 4-1, after his goal in the 59th minute, while Pablo wrapped things up for their squad with his pair of goals made in a span of two minutes—68th and 70th.
