Marianas Young Professionals, a non-profit organization that helps promote young professionals in the CNM, recognized the initiatives of Jiang Zheng Group Inc. by giving them a plaque of appreciation for investing in the skills and talents of public school high school students.

The awarding was held last Friday at Marianas Creations in Garapan.

JZ Group, which owns real estate company Joint Marketing Inc., recently sponsored an educational initiative called “Open Reef Innovations” where many students participated to learn about virtual and augmented reality technologies.

The students made an application using these technologies for commercial applications for JZ Group. The application helps JZ Group clients to see and experience the properties that are for sale on island in a computer-simulated environment and allows the user to interact with real world objects that are enhanced in the simulated environment.

“Many of our young people got to participate as this is a cultural and technology educational experience where we could teach young people to 3D design latte stones, to photograph in 360 degrees and to learn more about technology to preserve their language, arts and culture,” said MyPros executive director Gerard Van Gils.

“These kids learned technology and they built a real estate marketing application for JZ Group. This is actually the first VR/AR app created in the CNMI and it was done by public high school students,” he added.

Van Gils said this sponsorship was a bold initiative on the part of JZ Group as many companies would not see a direct connection between investing in the education of young people and the building of their business.

“This goes to show that if you want a strong business in our community, we should invest in the young people which is the future of our community.”

Jordan Sundell, general counsel at JZ Group who received the plaque with JZ Group owner Eric Guo, said that they are excited for more projects with students in the future. “We are very excited about it and this (plaque) is a nice sentimental gift as we are happy to be supporting the youth and the educational system.”

“It is well needed here in the CNMI and we are supportive of the students’ future. We are excited to give them the opportunity to try some stuff that is hard to get here but common in the mainland,” he added.

Sundell said that the company has been using the app with tourists interested in buying property. “But where the app is especially useful is because it allows our company to show off Saipan and its real estate without people traveling here.”

“The VR apps will be an important tool for the real-estate industry and we are excited to introduce that tool here and look forward to seeing the kind of apps the students will produce as they become more experienced,” he added.
