Individual rifling through vehicle is arrested for auto burglary
On Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, at about 2:56am, a CNMI Department of Public Safety officer was conducting a routine patrol around the village of Chalan Kanoa when he noticed the ajar door of a vehicle that was in the middle of a dimly lit parking lot.
As the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed an individual searching for something inside the vehicle. When the officer asked the individual if he owns the vehicle he was in, the suspect stated that it wasn’t and that he was looking for a cigarette. He then fled on foot and ran down Crispina Street, then made a right along Gregorio Avenue, eventually running onto Chalan Tun Joaquin Doi Road. Shortly after, the officer, who chased the suspect on foot, caught the suspect. He then allegedly became uncooperative and yelled profanities at the officer. That was until the suspect’s parents stepped out of a nearby apartment and yelled his name, after which the officer identified the suspect as Keson Peter from a previous encounter.
At 3:09am, the officer arrested Keson Peter for burglary and transported him to the Department of Corrections where he was booked and detained. (PR)
