A boat captain accused of punching a diving shop employee in front of stunned customers at a beach side in western Garapan, entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to three days in prison.
Quentin Michael Ngirarois, 47, signed a plea deal with the government and pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace.

Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman accepted the guilty plea and sentenced Ngirarois to six months in prison, all suspended except three days.

Wiseman gave the defendant credit for the three days he already served in jail.

It means that Ngirarois will no longer serve more jail time.

The defendant will be placed on supervised probation for six months. He was required to pay a $500 fine, plus $25 court costs, and $60 probation fee.

Ngirarois was ordered to perform 200 hours of community work service and complete anger management counseling at the Community Guidance Center.

As part of the plea agreement, assistant attorney general Heather Barcinas moved to dismiss the remaining charge of assault and battery. The judge granted the motion.

According to the factual basis of the plea deal, on April 30, 2013, Ngirarois walked up to Michael Daikichy and punched him in the face in front of staff and customers of the Global Oceans Divers. The defendant’s actions disturbed the peace of Daikichy as well as all others present.

Police said the assault happened when Ngirarois and the victim were arguing over customers.
