Police search for 4 possible theft suspects

The Department of Public Safety is working to identify four female suspects who are being linked to a theft incident at the I Love Saipan store in Garapan.
According to a statement yesterday, DPS received a call last July 17 at 4:43pm about a theft incident at the store. About three minutes after the 911 call, police arrived at the store and interviewed the store’s security officer.
The security officer said that an employee noticed a basket and hangers in the female restroom just before closing time the night before. The store prohibits customers from bringing such items to the restrooms.
When security personnel reviewed the surveillance footage, they noticed a group of four unknown women taking turns carrying a black bag. The footage identified a female wearing a yellow shirt, the second female wearing a black shirt, the third female wearing a gray sweater, and the fourth female wearing a blue jersey-type shirt containing the number “3” printed on the front and the back.
The footage begins with the four females heading down the store’s second floor clothing shop. As soon as the group meet on the first floor, they roamed around the store, as the female with the black shirt returned a cart to the front counter. One of the women actually pointed at a camera that was turned in the direction of the group.
Throughout the entirety of the footage the police provided, the females were passing the black bag around until all four reached the women’s restroom. Shortly after, the female with the bag walked up the stairs to pass on the bag to the others and they all left the store in different exits.
All four later met outside near the store, and they looked like they checked out the contents of the bag until the end of the footage. The DPS statement says the females walked south along Alaihai Avenue. It does not specify what the four suspects took from the store.
According to the statement, detectives were recently given access to the surveillance file of the incident.
