United Airlines invites teams to tow line in fight against cancer
Registration extended for the annual Plane Pull event scheduled for Sept. 14
GUAM—The United Airlines Plane Pull Event Committee, along with American Cancer Society and Guam Cancer Care, announced yesterday that the registration is extended until Tuesday, Sept. 10. for the 14th Annual Plane Pull Event. Event organizers are encouraging the community to join this annual charity event as a team or supporter.
United welcomes the public to join them at this family-friendly fundraising event that equally benefits American Cancer Society and Guam Cancer Care. Teams of 25 members each compete in two divisions—men’s and co-ed—to pull a United Boeing 737 aircraft, weighing 141,000 lbs, 12 feet in the fastest time. The Boeing 737 aircraft is 129 feet long, 41 feet high and 124 feet wide.
Sam Shinohara, United’s managing director of Airport Operations for Asia/Pacific said, “We are proud to be hosting the 14th Annual United Plane Pull event, which brings our community together to raise funds for the fight against cancer. We do this each year, because each and every one of our families has been affected by cancer. We invite teams to join us as we ‘tow the line’ to raise money for American Cancer Society and Guam Cancer Care so they can continue to support our survivors and warriors.”
The 2018 Plane Pull event raised close to $25,000, which directly and equally benefitted the event’s beneficiaries, American Cancer Society and Guam Cancer Care. The annual Plane Pull event, which is organized and sponsored by United employees, has attracted more than 11,000 participants throughout the past 13 years and has raised more than $340,000 for the local charities.
