Enticing Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions travel to the Marianas was the goal of the Marianas Visitors Authority’s participation in a travel trade event on Aug. 28-29, 2019, in Beijing.
Incentive, and Business Travel and Meetings Workshop China is the leading event for the meetings and events industry in China and the Asia Pacific region.
“IBTM provides a gateway to the Chinese and Asia Pacific meetings, events and incentives market,” said MVA managing director Priscilla M. Iakopo. “In partnership with our MVA members Century Tours and Impression Tour, we presented the Marianas’ many travel resources available to MICE groups, with the goal of getting them to choose our islands as the venue for their next group event.”
So far this fiscal year, the MVA has assisted MICE groups bringing an estimated 5,500 visitors to the Marianas. This figure does include MICE groups who have made their travel arrangements independently of the MVA. Another 400 MICE travelers are expected to visit Saipan later this month.
The IBTM Workshop attracted over3,400 travel trade representatives, and the MVA met with over 40 MICE organizers, travel agencies, media representatives, and other professionals who had scheduled appointments to learn more about the Marianas. Ina presentation on the main stage, MVA’s China Travel trade manager Tony Zhang introduced the Marianas as an ideal MICE travel option, detailing the hotels, conference venues, restaurants, and other available activities for group travel.
The event was also supported by Saipan World Resort, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, Kanoa Resort, Kensington Hotel Saipan, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, Hyatt Regency Saipan, and Saipan Submarine, which provided three tour vouchers as raffle prizes. (MVA)
