Half-price as Furusato marks 20th anniversary

All-time favorite “Katsudon” or pork cutlet on rice is part of the Furusato dinner menu where customers will only pay half of its price from Aug. 31 up to Sept. 1, from 6pm to 10pm.

The Furusato Japanese Sashimi Restaurant at the Paseo De Marianas in Garapan is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month and is offering a 50% discount on all dinner menu items, including beverages, for two whole days only—from Aug. 31 to Sept. 1, from 6pm to 10pm.
Furusato president Hideaki Sawada explained that they decided to offer the promo discount during dinner time instead of lunch “because people have more time to enjoy [dinner] with family and friends.”
The Furusato restaurant can accommodate 85 people and, this early, half of that number have already booked their dinner reservations with the restaurant to avail of the promo.
“Lunch time only captures friends and co-workers, whereas dinner time, we have both plus they can bring their families,” Sawada added.
Furusato was established at the Paseo de Marianas in 1999.
For two decades now, the Furusato Japanese Sashimi Restaurant has been providing the community and tourists the highest quality Japanese cuisine, prepared meticulously and skillfully by their in-house chefs.
Whether with rice or beer, Furusato’s Yakitori Moriawase is the perfect partner. Pay only half the price from Aug. 31 to Sept. 1, from 6pm to 10pm.
“The special about thing about our dishes is that we have remained true in using the right ingredients for every dish. Over the years, our taste and flavor have never changed because the ingredients stay the same. This is how we maintain the good quality of our food,” Sawada said.
“[In addition], we always aim to get the right ambiance for our customers and this include good customer service and affordability,” Sawada added.
A Japanese meal is not the same without Furusato’s gyoza or steamed fry dumpling as a side dish. Pay only half the price from Aug. 31 up to Sept. 1, from 6pm to 10pm.
Despite the hefty discount the restaurant will offer on Aug. 31 to Sept. 1, Furusato will continue to serve quality seafood, soups, noodles, and meat. This, Sawada said, is Furusato’s way of saying thanks to the CNMI for their support and continued patronage for the past 20 years.
“We like to thank everyone. …We appreciate that whenever they crave for authentic Japanese taste, they come to Furusato,” Sawada added.
In Nihonggo (the Japanese language), Furusato means “hometown” and Sawada said that Saipan has become the restaurant’s hometown these last 20 years “…and we look forward to [being here] for another 20 years or more.”
