Brilliant Star welcomes Beyer as new principal
The Brilliant Star Montessori School is celebrating its 20th year in the CNMI this year by welcoming a new principal, Steven Beyer, who will be replacing the school’s former head, Richard Sikkel.
Beyer is not new to Brilliant Star, having taught at the school on diverse subjects such as science, math, art, English, music, and robotics. He also coached multiple interscholastic sports.
Before leaving Brilliant Star, Sikkel was the school’s principal since 2010 and a coach of the school’s interscholastic sports teams.
Brilliant Star uses the internationally recognized Montessori curriculum, which focuses on student-driven learning. It offers small class sizes, a teacher’s aide in each classroom, Mandarin language incorporated along with English instruction, and much more.
The school’s demographics range from local Chamorro families, to students of African, Asian, European, and North American ethnicities.
The school is a non-profit organization since January 2000 and is a recipient of many Educational Tax Credit donations. The donations help give financial support to the students from low-income families, capital improvements, and support for its staff.
