A man who brought a gun to a bar pleaded guilty to the charges against him and was sentenced to one year in prison.

Francisco A. Ada, 56, pleaded guilty yesterday to possession of a firearm in a gun-free zone and was sentenced to one-year imprisonment, all suspended.

Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo placed Ada under six months of supervised probation starting yesterday.

He also ordered Ada to pay a fine of $1,000, court assessment fees, probation service fees, and to serve 100 hours of community service.

The court waived the charge of possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, pursuant to Ada’s plea agreement.

Ada’s gun, although still in the possession of the Department of Public Safety, will be returned to him once he completes his probation, according to Govendo.

Ada was arrested in August 2017 after he was caught in possession of a gun at the Pacific Islands Club Seaside Bar.
