HAGATNA, Guam—A special presentation by two sustainability experts from Arizona State University met with members and guests of the UOG Island Sustainability community advisory board and Bank of Guam executives at a meeting hosted by Bank of Guam.
This meeting launches the University of Guam’s Guam Green Growth Initiative, which aims to contribute to a green Guam economy.
Dr. Rajesh Buch, ASU director of sustainability practice and international development, and Amanda Jordan, program coordinator for ASU’s Resource Innovation & Solutions Network Incubator, provided examples to ISCA board members of a departure from a standard linear economy to a circular economy.
They led the Island Circular Economy Industry Workshop yesterday at the University of Guam School of Business and Public Administration. The workshop introduced local industry stakeholders to an economic system that designs out waste and pollution, keeps materials in use, and regenerates natural systems.
Joaquin P.L.G. Cook, Bank of Guam president and chief executive officer, noted, “Bank of Guam is proud to host circular economy experts and the discussion about Guam’s sustainability possibilities. We applaud the University of Guam and government officials who participated in support of our community goals for a greener Guam, which aligns with the Bank of Guam’s mission, and we look forward to participating in impactful discussions and actions.” (PR)
