Man accused in several burglaries is arrested, this time for contempt

A man who is accused of several burglaries has been arrested again after he allegedly violated the terms of his release.
Martin T. Jr. Castro, 34, who was originally arrested for alleged involvement in three different burglary and theft cases, was arrested again last Wednesday for contempt of court after he reportedly violated the terms on his bail release.
Superior Court Associate Judge Theresa Kim-Tenorio imposed a bail of $1,000 on Castro and he is now awaiting arraignment at the Department of Corrections.
According to a Department of Public Safety statement yesterday, DPS received a report about a contempt of court violation in Chalan Piao at about 1:56pm last Wednesday. Police then met with the caller, who was Castro’s third-party custodian. The caller stated that the court had placed Castro on house arrest, yet Castro had left the house, violating his bail.
Officers immediately notified other units in the area to be on the lookout for Castro. Officers spotted Castro walking south along Beach Road, Chalan Piao, at about 2:35pm. Officers approached Castro and told him that his third-party custodian had called 911, reporting that he had left the residence without his appointed custodian. Castro was immediately arrested and brought to DOC.
According to Saipan Tribune archives, Castro was arrested for his alleged involvement in three burglaries back in July—two in Susupe and one in San Antonio.
Castro allegedly broke into a residence in Sunshine Garden, Susupe and stole a cellphone worth $700. He is also the suspect in a theft incident at Mo’s Restaurant, Susupe and a theft that occurred in San Antonio on July 24 at a used car lot.
