Business and residential customers on Rota lost communication services last Friday, Aug. 9, due to a fiber break in Docomo Pacific’s Atisa subsea cable. Support teams and supplies from Saipan and Guam were deployed immediately.

Docomo Pacific also reached out to IT&E, which provides mobile and internet services on Rota.

“We want to thank our friends at IT&E for answering our call and for working with us without hesitation. That’s what we do for each other in this industry and we’re glad to have partners who value the inafa’maolek spirit as much as we do,” said Roderick Boss, president and chief executive officer of Docomo Pacific.

Docomo Pacific teams are working as quickly as possible to restore all services. At the time of this release, services are reportedly coming back up.

The Docomo Pacific retail location was open until 6pm Saturday evening and from 10am to 2pm Sunday, Aug. 11, to assist customers.

Docomo Pacific is a wholly- owned subsidiary of NTT Docomo, Japan’s leading mobile operator. (PR)
