Chamber to employers: Approach Kilili’s office

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce is urging employers to approach Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan’s (Ind-Saipan) office in Susupe if they need help with their CW renewal process and application.

In an email sent to members last Wednesday, the Chamber urged employers to fill out a casework consent form at Sablan’s office in Susupe so that the office could help follow up their on their CW applications or Temporary Labor Certification, or TLC, applications at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the U.S. Department of Labor respectively.

“…The CNMI DOL has had weekly calls with the USDOL to discuss the questions and state problems CNMI businesses are having while filing. The response from USDOL is that they have to follow the intent of the law, but the CNMI DOL, Saipan Chamber, and our congressional office will continue to advocate on our behalf to try and shorten and simplify the process,” the email stated.

The Chamber said it also met with the U.S. House Natural Resources staff delegation during their visit to the CNMI last week and also had a separate meeting with Sablan at his Susupe office.

The Chamber urged its members to submit their questions to CNMI DOL via email at documents@marianaslabor.net or to the Chamber at executive@saipanchamber.com so those concerns or questions could be to forwarded to the appropriate federal agencies.

Employers are also urged to open a case with Sablan’s office in Susupe to help advocate to USDOL and USCIS on the employer’s behalf.

The Chamber told Saipan Tribune that emailing Sablan’s office at kilili@mail.house.gov for a consent form is the easiest way to collect the consent form.

“…We thank the congressional office for letting us know of this process so that they can assist us,” Chamber president Velma Palacios told Saipan Tribune in an interview.

“…As a Chamber, we want to help the businesses in any way possible, but they also have to…bring up their cases to [Sablan’s] office. If they don’t fill up [the consent forms] they wouldn’t know [how to help],” she added, saying that the Chamber can only represent the CNMI’s private sector for general concerns but for more technical and unique problems, she urges employers to approach Sablan’s office.
