Mister gets June honors

Pacific Games participant Logan Mister was named the Tan Siu Lin Foundation/Northern Marianas Sports Association Male Student Athlete of the Month for June.

Mister took the monthly honors after helping Marianas High School-1 topped the 2018-2019 Public School System Boys High School Volleyball Tournament. The late recognition was just announced last Thursday during the NMSA monthly meeting at the conference room of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, as the group failed to convene in July—the same month CNMI athletes and officials were busy for the XVI Pacific Games in Samoa.

The MHS senior was a steady presence in the net for the Dolphins, who dominated the elimination round to gain the top seeding in the playoffs. Then in the championship round, Mister used his ceiling to intimidate the smaller, but quicker Tinian High School players. Tinian won Game 1 of the finals, but failed to complete the upset when Mister and company regrouped and prevailed in the deciding Game 2. Mister teamed up with Jerico Castro and Bailey Spaeth in manning the net for the Dolphins.

After his success in the interscholastic league, Logan continued playing and training with his father, Tyce. The Misters represented the CNMI in the XVI Pacific Games in Samoa, making history in the event as the first father-and-son tandem to compete in beach volleyball. In the Pacific Games, Logan and Tyce played against Papua New Guinea, Kiribati, and Tuvalu.

Meanwhile, NMSA is calling all its members to coordinate with the groups in charge of the CNMI Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plans for 2019-2024. SCORP could help sports federation seeking improvement with their respective facilities.

SCORP, through the Horsley Witten Group, Inc. and Koa Consulting LLC , is holding a series of workshops to allow the public and other stakeholders to provide inputs on improvements and addition to infrastructures in the Commonwealth. The workshop was held on Saipan yesterday, while Rota and Tinian sessions are set for today and on Thursday, respectively. For more information, visit www.cnmi-scorp.com.
