Showers to increase over the weekend
The National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, predicts that showers would increase over the weekend.
According NWS, they continue to monitor two systems to the west and north of the Marianas as they gradually become more organized.
NWS expects the systems to become better organized starting this weekend up until next week. However, the monsoonal flow from the systems will be drawn to the Marianas, bringing increased showers over the weekend through next week.
Although the systems are not forecasted to directly impact the Marianas, showers are expected to increase, southwest winds and ocean swells will increase and cause hazardous surf, and the Marianas will see winds of up to 20 miles per hour.
Looking at the big picture, NWS reports that they are beginning to see signs of activity. A monsoon trough was seen parked far north of the Northern Marianas for the past week.
Models also indicate increased potential for some circulations to develop. Although they are not expected to directly affect the Marianas, the presence will help strengthen the monsoon flow across Micronesia and will bring more moisture to the Marianas as the weeks progress.
