Kautz takes SGA June Ace

Rick Kautz will have a chance to defend his Saipan Golfers Association Ace of Aces title, as he qualified for the club championship after topping the June tournament.
Kautz shot a net 70 for a one-stroke win over Tony Deleon Guerrero in the monthly competition held on the west course of the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort. The 7-handicapper fired a 38 and 39 on the front and back nines, respectively, for a gross 77. Deleon Guerrero, on the other hand, tallied a 43 in the first nine holes and 42 in the last nine for a gross 85 and deducting his 14 handicap, he ended up with a net 71.
With his June Ace, Kautz joined Larry Deleon Guerrero (January), Steve Balakrishna (February), Joe Sablan (March), John “Nanni” Cruz (April), and Ed Manibusan (May) on the list of early club championship qualifiers.
Joining Kautz and Deleon Guerrero in the Top 3 were Nick Sablan, Alex Tudela, and, Balakrishna who submitted similar net scores of 77. The 6-handicapper Sablan recorded a 38 and 45 on the front and back nines, while Tudela posted a 44 and 42, and Balakrishna registered a 46 and 40. Both Tudela and Balakrishna hold a 9 handicap.
In other results, Tony Deleon Guerrero and Juan Diaz made the longest drive on holes No. 2 and 12, respectively, and the former also had a closest to the pin shot on No. 17. Other closest to the pin winners were Cruz on No. 3 and Tudela on No. 13.
Meanwhile, SGA will have its July Ace of the Month Tournament this Sunday at the Kingfisher Golf Links. Show-time is at 9am and tee-off is at 9:30am. (Saipan Tribune)
