VA chief Wilkie visits Saipan today

Veteran Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie is set to meet with CNMI leadership and visit veterans facilities on Saipan today, July 31, 2019.
Wilkie, along with key members of his staff, will meet with acting governor Arnold I. Palacios, members of the CNMI Legislature, Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP), the CNMI Veterans Affairs Office, and the Saipan VA Outreach Clinic to discuss veterans initiatives within the CNMI and services provided for veterans on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.
“We’re honored to have Secretary Wilkie visit Saipan and the Marianas as we continue the dialogue on the many issues and challenges facing our veterans. We look forward to strengthening our services and initiatives here at home through the support of Secretary Wilkie and the Department of Veterans Affairs,” said Palacios.
Palacios and the CNMI leadership are set to discuss issues relating to increased health care access, transportation issues for veterans on all three islands for medical care, employment and job training opportunities after service, and creating an updated and accurate registry/census of veterans in the CNMI for more efficient services.
CNMI leadership will look to have further talks on the possibility of having a dedicated VA clinic in the Commonwealth. (PR)
