Star Marianas to offer more seats
Star Marianas Air Inc. announced yesterday that it will be adding more seats between Saipan and Rota and Guam and Rota beginning July 24.
The Tinian-based interisland carrier said the decision to add more seats between the three islands was made in consultation with the Rota Legislative Delegation and other local officials.
“Adding more seats will mean that our residents and visitors will have more options when making their travel plans,” Star Marianas said in a press statement yesterday.

Sens. Paul Manglona (Ind-Rota) and Teresita Santos (Ind-Rota) lauded Star Marianas’ decision, with the former extending a “thank you!” to the company in a Facebook post.
“From the people and leaders of Rota, thank you Star Marianas Air for providing additional air passenger service, most especially to and from our beautiful island of Rota!” said Santos in a similar social media post.
Star Marianas is a U.S. regional commuter airline serving the CNMI and Guam. It offers scheduled flights from Saipan to Tinian; from Saipan to Rota; and from Rota to Guam. Additionally, charter flights can be arranged 24 hours per day/seven days per week.
Founded in 2008, Star Marianas received initial certification from the Federal Aviation Administration as an On-Demand Air Carrier effective April 1, 2009, with its first flight occurring on April 2, 2009—a charter between Tinian and Saipan.
Its website notes that the “Star” in Star Marianas Air comes from the first letter of the islands of Saipan, Tinian, Aguiguan, and Rota.
In 2019, Star Marianas’ 10th year in operation, it will be adding three additional Cherokee Sixes to the fleet, bringing the total number of its fleet to 14 aircraft.
Star Marianas currently operates from the Saipan Commuter Terminal on Saipan, from the international airport terminals on Tinian and Rota, and from the Light Aircraft Commuter Facility in Guam.
