There are dozens of Chinese restaurants on Saipan, but none of them really fancy themselves as a seafood place.
Enter Fisherman’s Wharf Fresh Seafood, Steak, Lobster, and Grill Restaurant at the heart of Garapan.
The brainchild of Cindy Zhang, Fisherman’s Wharf was originally supposed to open four years ago in 2015, but finally made its long-awaited debut last July 10.
“I’ve always wanted to open a Chinese restaurant that specializes in seafood. Fisherman’s Wharf is a realization of that dream and I’m really happy we finally opened after waiting so long,” said Zhang, who has made Saipan her home the past 17 years.

Zhang starts her day early by driving from one fishmonger to another along Beach Road to find the freshest seafood on island.
“It’s the only way you can be sure your seafood is fresh, aside from having a boat and catching the fish yourself,” said Zhang.
With meticulous attention to the quality of seafood Fisherman’s Wharf gets, Zhang also sources lobster and other seafood from Tinian and Rota suppliers.
So far, the bestsellers at Fisherman’s Wharf are its signature steamed lobster dish. Also, must-tries are its abalone, beef broccoli, and sweet and sour pork.
$8 lunch buffet
To introduce Fisherman’s Wharf to the island community, the restaurant has an ongoing promotion that would make it the most affordable full buffet on island.

At $8 for customers with local ID ($10 for tourists), Fisherman’s Wharf’s lunch buffet offers 10 dishes that range from seafood to chicken, beef, dumplings, hotpot, mapo tofu, fried rice, and more. It comes with a complimentary iced tea and orange juice plus desserts like fresh fruits.
“I just want to attract a lot of customers that’s why we’re offering this $10 lunch buffet, which has a 20% discount for locals so it goes down to $8,” said Zhang.
Fisherman’s Wharf is located along Royal Palm Avenue in the tourist district of Garapan at the back of Capricciosa and Tony Roma’s. It’s open from 10:30am to 2pm and 5:30pm to 10pm daily.
The restaurant comfortably sits 100 but can accommodate up 180 diners. It is also open for private parties and corporate functions. For more information and reservations, call 285-6134.
