Court withdraws its acceptance of Gabayeron’s plea in rob case

The Superior Court has withdrawn its acceptance of Artemia Gabayeron’s guilty plea in charges related to robbing a poker arcade at knifepoint.
According to Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph Camacho yesterday, he withdrew his acceptance of Gabayeron’s plea because the change of plea and sentencing memorandum did not specify exactly what the opposing parties agreed to.
Gabayeron had changed her plea on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon from not guilty to guilty.
Camacho ordered Gabayeron to return to court on June 26 to continue the sentencing and resubmit her guilty plea.
Gabayeron, 51, is facing multiple charges, including robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace.
Gabayeron was allegedly caught on surveillance tape robbing the Royal Poker gaming arcade in Oleai last April 11. Gabayeron was reportedly seen entering the arcade and leaving after robbing the female cashier of $649. She allegedly threatened her at knifepoint.
The suspect allegedly walked into the establishment between 6:30am and 6:45am after the security guard had left, called the cashier on a pretext of trying to get assistance, then forcing her way into the cashier’s area and holding the cashier at knifepoint.
A short struggle occurred before the suspect was able to open the cash register and grab a handful of cash valued at $649. The suspect then fled the establishment, going south toward Oleai.
Gabayeron was apprehended two days later at her home.
Court information mentions that a human resource representative from a Susupe hotel where she worked helped police identify Gabayeron through photos from the surveillance footage, confirming that it was, in fact, Gabayeron and directed police to Gabayeron’s residence in As Terlaje.
Aside from the identification by her employer, Gabayeron was also identified by the victim in a six-person lineup.
