Ol’Aces, Rollers A prevail
The Ol’Aces and Rollers A posted contrasting wins in the Pacific Amusement/NMI Rollers Youth Basketball Tournament last Saturday at the Koblerville Gymnasium.
The Rollers A nosed out Chinatown Titans in the U16 game, 29-28, while the Ol’Aces eased past Tinian in the U14 match, 59-16.
Angel Roligat top-scored in the Ol’Aces’ lopsided victory after drilling 11 points. He drew a lot of help from his teammates, as Harry Kapwich, Craig Padayao, and Taisei Desebel chipped in 9 apiece.
No Tinian player delivered double figures, as Lana King managed to make only 8 markers.
In the Rollers A-Chinatown Titans tiff, Florencio Richards, Tars Kapwich, Ian Manglona, Rexson Calage, and Denzel Pangelinan hit important baskets in the second half to lift the former to a close win.
In other results in the U16 division, Tinian outclassed the Ol’Aces, 36-30.
Jared King paced Tinian with his 10 points, while Leo Epity and Sirlashu Dela Cruz combined for 15 points.
Greg Deleon Guerrero led the Ol’Aces’ losing cause after recording 11 markers.
In the U18 division, the Rollers topped the Ol’Aces 1, 49-41, and Tinian routed the Ol’Aces II, 49-30.
Dela Cruz had 12 points in Tinian’s easy win, while Tyler Santos and Robert Reyes contributed 9 apiece.
As for the Rollers, Steve King tallied a game-high 14 markers, while Bailey Travis added 10.
