The Daejeon Senior Orchestra performed at the 21st Annual Taste of the Marianas International Food Festival & Beer Garden last May 25 as part of efforts to sustain the relationship between the Korean city and Saipan.

“I hope our participation of this festival to enhance the friendship between our two cities,” said orchestra president Kim Seon Kim in a letter to Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang.

The orchestra comes from the city of Daejeon, South Korea and the average age of the performers is 70 years old. The senior orchestra is led by conductor Jun Changhee and consists of 25 members.

Kim believes that events like this orchestral performance will help the friendship between Daejeon and the CNMI to continue to grow.

The orchestra hopes to visit the CNMI every year. (Marc Venus)
