NMI Tau Gamma Council to join Pistang Pinoy
The Northern Mariana Islands Council of the local Tau Gamma Phi will be holding a free health screening on Sunday as part of the activities in the annual Pistang Pinoy festivities at the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe.

This is the fourth time the Triskelions’ Grand Fraternity is holding a free health screening since 2012.

The free health screening is in cooperation with the United Filipino Organizations and nurses from the Commonwealth Health Center and St. Jude Renal Care Facility. It will include blood pressure test, blood sugar test, and pulse oximetry or the measuring of the oxygen level of the blood.

The NMIC Triskelions’ is also tasked to organize the Filipino parlor games for the Pistang Pinoy that include chess, balloon popping, sack race, basagan ng palayok (hit the pot), and pabitin. (PR)

JIL Saipan marks 22nd anniversary
The Jesus is Lord Church Saipan is celebrating its 22nd Anniversary on June 16, 2019, starting at 4pm, at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe, with a theme “Proclaiming Jesus is Lord.”

This year’s guest speaker will be Pastor Abigail Corpuz, Area Pastor of Area 5, JIL West USA supervising Hawaii, Saipan and Guam. She is visiting Saipan for the first time with her husband and daughter.  

The Jesus is Lord Church Saipan is located in San Vicente/Dandan Village with over 150 members of different nationalities. Community members are encouraged to join the celebration. For more information or to obtain a ride to the event, call 670-989-8053. (PR)

Writers’ workshop on June 15 at JKPL

Local author Walt F.J. Goodridge will be leading a writers’ workshop on June 15, 2019, from 9am to 12pm, at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library’s video teleconference room. Admission is $10 in advance, and $12 at the door ($5 for students with ID). Twenty percent of admission proceeds will be donated directly to the library on the day of the event. Seating is limited. Guam CHamoru commission meetings set
The Kumisión i Fino’ CHamoru yan i Fina’nå’guen i Historia yan i Lina’la’ Taotao Tåno’ (Commission on CHamoru Language and the Teaching of History and Culture of the Indigenous People of Guam) will hold its monthly meetings on June 13, and 20, 2019, from 12:30pm to 3pm at the Kumision office, The Garden House, Plasa de Espana, Hagatna.

A work session will be held on June 27, 2019, from 12:30pm to 3pm, at the same venue.

Graduation day reminders
Graduation day reminders to the Kagman High School parents & graduating Class of 2019:

Graduation practice is from 9am to 11am at the following locations:

• June 7: American Memorial Park
• June 10: American Memorial Park
• June 11: Awards ceremony, Kagman Elementary School cafeteria, 4pm
• June 12: Graduation Day, American Memorial Park, 4:30 pm. Seniors, arrive by 3:30pm. All seniors will gather in the air-conditioned theater in the main AMP Museum. The graduation is a formal ceremony, so all graduates must practice cap-and-gown etiquette during the ceremony. (PR)

Military training in open ocean, at Dandan, Farallon de Medinilla
ASAN, Guam—The U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force will conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla today, June 7, from 10:30am to 9pm. The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be within a 12-nautical mile radius of the island. (PR)

Time management training set
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce and Jim Arenovski of Island Training Solutions will be hosting a training on time management at the Saipan Chamber of Commerce conference room (Marianas Business Plaza, third floor, Suite 315) on June 26, from 9am to 12pm. Registration fee is $50 per person for Chamber members and $55 per person for non-members. Light refreshments are included. Reservations and advance payment are required as seating is limited.
