No suspects yet in home invasion

The Department of Public Safety claims to have no leads yet in identifying a suspect who invaded a house in San Vicente and beat up two individuals in the process.

DPS spokesman Adrian Pangelinan said that, as of yesterday, DPS did not have any updates on the assailant.

“As of present time, we have no new information about the case regarding an assailant or suspect. We have no suspect. Detectives are still looking into the case very closely,” he said.

According to Pangelinan, both victims, a 28-year-old woman and a 14-year-old male, told police that they could not give much detail about what the assailant looked like or any physical features because the suspect was a masked figure and they were also rendered unconscious.

Pangelinan added that nothing was reported stolen, eliminating the theory that the attack was intended to rob the residence. There was also no white sedan reported at the scene, contrary to what has been circulating in social media, according to Pangelinan.

He confirmed that the victims are related, that the male had just left the house to walk to a neighboring store when he was attacked from behind; the female victim was asleep at home when she was attacked.

Pangelinan said police believe that the assailant in both attacks are one and the same person.

The residence that was invaded is owned by Tom Blas, a Department of Public Safety captain assigned to the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Blas’ home was invaded last Sunday at around 3pm.

Blas, also a former DPS spokesperson, said in a quick interview that his daughter was at home with a few children, but the children had left for a confraternity of Christian doctrine class at the San Vicente Church right behind their home.

Blas said that his daughter was alone at home when a person invaded their home and beat her up.
Blas said his daughter has been stable since Monday.
