The CNMI Energy Division under the Department of Public Works launched yesterday the State Energy Program – Energy Star Appliance Rebate Program in the CNMI, to replace old inefficient appliances with qualified energy-efficient Energy Star-rated products for a limited time or until funds run out, whichever comes first.

Funds are limited and rebate vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Redemption period for all rebate vouchers is 30 days from date of issue.

Appliances must replace existing models. Residents with newly constructed or renovated homes are eligible to apply for new purchases of qualified Energy Star-rated appliances.

Residents impacted by the devastations of Typhoon Mangkhut and Super Typhoon Yutu are eligible, provided they have not already received similar assistance from local, federal or private entities. Additional requirements or conditions may apply.

Rebate applications for Saipan residents will be available for distribution to the public beginning June 10, 2019, at the CNMI Energy Division Office at House 1337, Ascencion Drive, Capital Hill, Saipan.

For Tinian residents, staff from the Division of Energy office will be available on Tinian on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 9am at the Office of the Mayor to assist residents with applications.

For Rota residents, staff from the Division of Energy office will be available on Rota on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at 9am at the Office of the Mayor to assist residents with applications.

People with disabilities or families and relatives of people with disabilities requiring additional assistance or reasonable accommodations are requested to contact the Division of Energy office at (670) 664-4480/1.

For additional program information or questions, contact the Division of Energy Office at 664-4480/1 and ask for Vince Attao or Maile Iakopo.

Funding opportunity for this program is made possible through a grant award from the U.S. Department of Energy-State Energy Program. (PR)
