The Braves hammered the Twins, 15-4, in the Majors division game in the 2019 Saipan Little League Baseball last Saturday at the Capitol Hill Ballfield.
The Braves got the victory after only four innings, as they collected eight runs at the bottom of the fourth to wrap up the game early via 10-run mercy rule.
Eric Camacho helped deliver the killer blows for the Braves with his two-run double in the fourth inning. He also reached home off Marino Santos’s double, while the Braves capitalized on the Twins’ erratic defense to get four runs off errors and one from a passed ball.
Fabio Norita pitched the Braves to victory, as he gave up no earned run and recorded seven strikeouts. He started his shift with a 1-3 putout play on Twins leadoff batter Brandon Tesiro and then fanned Devin Yumul. The Twins were later called for the three quick outs when Miah Yokota flied out at left field.
While the Twins struggled at the start of the game, the Braves played better and got three runs at the bottom of the first inning. Krafits Eliarsai had a two-run double in the first inning, while Kallan Seidler reached off a passed ball.
In the second inning, the Braves’ lead was trimmed down to one after leadoff batter Ethan Yumul put the Twins on the board, as he made it home off a passed ball and Fernando Robert also scored from their opponent’s error. Norita struck out the Twins’ next three batters to keep the Braves in front despite failing to score at the bottom of the second.
Norita also had a big defensive stop at the top of the third inning, as he struck out Animu Ottiwii with the bases loaded and after the Twins got two more runs. Then at the top of the fourth inning, Norita fanned leadoff batter Jon Pinaula and picked up the ball and threw to first baseman Erik Camacho for the two quick outs, as the latter tagged out Chuck Langu. A 6-3 putout play on Danilo Bernardo ended the inning for the Twins, who are still winless with the regular season about to conclude.
The Braves, with the victory, got win No. 2, but are out of the playoff contention along with the Twins.
