The Dolphins notched five more victories last Saturday at the MHS Gymnasium to finish the prelims with a 9-0 record. MHS 1, which went 4-0 in the May 17 pool play, started the second round of the prelims with a 25-15 win over Tinian Junior Senior High School 2. The Dolphins also registered a victory over Tinian 1 in similar scores before outclassing Kagman, 25-18, to extend their streak.

With its undefeated record and top seeding, MHS 1 will kick off its playoff campaign this Saturday against last finisher MHS 3. MHS 3, which had a 1-3 record in the May 17 matches, also got only one victory last Saturday to end up with a 2-7 record. MHS 3’s lone triumph last weekend was posted against MHS 2, 25-22, and the former lost the tiebreak for the No. 7 spot with Saipan Southern (2-7), as the Manta Rays tallied a 25-22 win in their duel last Saturday.
Meanwhile, Kagman High School is seeded No. 2 in the double-elimination playoffs and is followed by Tinian 1, Tinian 2, Rota, MHS 2, Saipan Southern, and MHS 3.
The Ayuyus wrapped up the preliminary round with a 7-2 card, getting four victories and dropping two matches last Saturday. Kagman won over Tinian 2, 26-24; MHS 3, 25-6; Saipan Southern, 28-26; and MHS 2, 25-18. Besides bowing to MHS 1, the Ayuyus also fell to Tinian 1, 15-25.
Tinian 1 and 2 played only in last Saturday’s matches and gained the No. 3 and 4 seeds, respectively, after posting 4-1 and 3-2 records. Tinian notched its first victory versus MHS 2, 25-12, and followed it up with a 25-18 triumph over Saipan Southern, and MHS 3, 25-20, and Kagman. Rota missed the prelims and automatically took the No. 5 seed, while MHS 2 is ranked No. 6 with its 3-6 mark.
MHS 2 is paired against Tinian 1 in the first round of the playoffs with the winner taking on the victor of the match between Kagman and Saipan Southern. Tinian 2, on the other hand, will square off against Rota and the winner will challenge either MHS 1 or MHS 3.
