ACS 2019 summary includes 7 academic achievements
Agape Christian School’s summary of achievements for school year 2018-2019 includes a total of seven academic achievements for both current students and their alumni.
In an email to Saipan Tribune, ACS pastor Jimeian Pang noted that the school on Middle Road placed first in the fourth-grade division in the CNMI state Math Court competition through Jessie D. Campbell, while Zongyao Huang placed third in the same division.
Campbell also placed second in the Guam Regional Spelling Bee representing the school.
Joel Du placed first in the CNMI Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Fair in the international category; Angeline Quan placed first in the Reader’s Forum at the PGFC Regional Competition; Miriam Zhao, Class of 2015 alumna, was accepted into the John Hopkins Medical College and Yale Medical College with a $10,000 scholarship; and Gerald Wang, Class of 2017 alumnus, got into the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Pang further recognized Owen Ou, a Class of 2016 alumnus, for getting into the West Point Academy and Lucy Gu, a Class of 2018 alumna, for getting into the Tsinghua University in Beijing, China on full scholarship.
Tsinghua University is informally dubbed as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology of China and is cited as the most reputable Chinese university by the 2017 Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings, coming in at 14th globally.
In athletics, ACS students bagged the 18-under boys champion in the All-Island Cross Country, as well as championed the 15-under boys and girls and 13-under boys and girls divisions.
ACS’ accomplishments in sports this year include bagging second place in the co-ed middle school division for volleyball at the Commonwealth Coalition of Private Schools Association Varsity Basketball League, or CCOPSA. Their high school boys team placed third in their division at the same league.
ACS’ middle school boys team are champions in their division for the CCOPSA while their middle school girls team placed second and their high school boys team placed second in their respective divisions.
