Gov. Ralph DLG Torres directed all CNMI flags in the Commonwealth to be lowered to half-staff today in observance of Memorial Day.

In a proclamation he signed yesterday, Torres said that flags of the Commonwealth will be flown at half-staff today, May 27, 2019, until noon.

This comes soon after President Donald J. Trump gave a similar order for all U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff until noon today.

“As a free people, we have a sacred duty to honor and remember our brave heroes, who have given their last full measure of devotion in defense of our country, freedom, and everything we stand for,” Torres said in his proclamation. “We also express our gratitude and appreciation to our military families who have had to sacrifice so much for the greater good of us all. We join the President and the nation in calling upon all Americans to observe Memorial Day as a time of united prayer for peace.” (PR)
