DPS responds to 58 calls
The CNMI Department of Public Safety responded to 58 calls on Saipan and made four arrests this past weekend.
From 11pm on Friday, May 17, through 11pm on Sunday, May 19—a 48-hour period—DPS responded to and were dispatched to 58 different 911 calls, which included assault and battery, auto related incident, burglary, cultivation, domestic dispute, disturbing the peace, driving under the influence, fire, injured person, reckless driving, and theft.
The three most reported to villages over the weekend include the villages of Chalan Kanoa, Dandan, and Garapan.
DPS encourages the public not to hesitate when calling 911. Dispatchers and officers are standing by to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the public. (DPS)
Emergency power outage today
There will be an emergency power interruption today, May 21, on the Kiya 3 line, from 9am to 3pm. This will affect Chalan Kiya (Plata Drive (partial), Chalan Kiya Drive, Tinta Lp., Penta Ln., Rasu Ln., Kachang Ln., Tumu Ln. and Mikulot Dr.). No water well service areas or wastewater service areas will be affected.
The purpose of this emergency power interruption is to de-energize utility lines and allow linemen of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. to replace a rotted primary power pole and straighten leaning power poles in Chalan Kiya.
