A mobilization ceremony was held on Saturday, May 11, to bid farewell to deploying soldiers from the Guam National Guard.
Overseas deployments continue with soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 294th Infantry Regiment departing in support of a peacekeeping mission in the Sinai Peninsula.
The Guam soldiers will be part of a Multinational Force and Observers team, consisting of about 12 countries, who supervise the implementation of the security provisions of the 1979 Egyptian-Israeli Treaty of Peace and employ best efforts to prevent any violation of its terms.
As always, the Guam National Guard asks the public for their continued support as this mobilization will also have a significant impact on the Guam National Guard who join more than 50 airmen who are still deployed abroad in support of Operations Inherent Resolve and Freedom Sentinel.
“We appreciate the people of Guam, especially their employers, for their continued support of our members and their families,” said Maj. Gen. Esther J.C. Aguigui, The Adjutant General of the Guam National Guard. “Please keep all our members in your thoughts and prayers now and for the duration of their missions.” (PR)
