Matansa Football Club-1 and TanHoldings dominated their respective opponents, while Kanoa completed the winners list in last Sunday’s triple-header in the masters division of the 2019 Dove Spring Women’s Futsal League.

Matansa-1 played in the curtain-raiser last weekend at the TSL Sports Complex and walloped MP United FC, 11-2.

Wanta Aldrich and Wasana Gregory teamed up for Matansa-1 in demolishing MP United as they scored five goals apiece. Bunruang Brasuelle drilled the other goal for the unbeaten squad.

Gregory was on target early, as she nailed a hat trick in a span of 14 minutes. She got her first goal in the fifth minute, while the second came in the 10th, and the third four minutes later. Aldrich then delivered Matansa-1’s last goal in the first half (20th minute), while MP United failed to counter.

Gregory opened Matansa-1’s scoring in the second half with her shot in the 26th minute, while Aldrich took over the rest of the way after finding the back of the net in the 28th, 37th, 40th, and 47th. Brasuell hit the board in the 42nd, while Gregory got her fifth and last in the 43rd.

While Matansa-1 was busy scoring in the second half, MP United answered with only a pair (the match report did not indicate who scored for the losing squad).

Meanwhile, TanHoldings followed Matansa-1’s lead after cruising to a 5-0 victory over Matansa-2.

TanHoldings ran a balance attack, as five different players scored against Matansa-2. Jessica Ortize kicked things off for TanHoldings with her goal in the eight minute, while Victoria Camama made it a 2-0 advantage at the break with her shot in the 21st minute.

When the game resumed, it was Eun Benavente’s turn to light up the board in the 31st minute, while Magie Chavez and Minda Phan delivered the last two goals for TanHoldings.

Meanwhile, Kanoa FC played a better offense in the second half to beat Topnotch, 5-2.

The second half started with the opposing teams in a standoff, 1-1. Kanoa got an own goal in the first half, while Maria Ornes made the lone goal for Topnotch.

Topnotch went on to take a 2-1 lead off Shawna Brennfleck’s goal in the 25th minute, but the team’s stay on top was short-lived, as Kanoa players got their acts together in the ensuing plays to take the win.

Catherine Toves fired the equalizer in the 34th minute, while Loyda Ito’s goal five minutes later put Kanoa in the driver’s seat. Ito scored another goal in the 45th minute, while earlier in the 40th, Merlie Tolentino gave Kanoa more cushion en route to their first win of the season. Kanoa bowed to MP United in the season opener last month and then settled for a draw against TanHoldings in the second week of the league.
