Quichochos fail to show up in court

Frances Quichocho failed to show up at the continuation of her cross-examination yesterday, prompting U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona to reschedule the trial for today, Friday.
Frances’ husband, attorney Ramon Quichocho, also didn’t appear in court. Attorney Michael Dotts, who represents the couple, appeared on their behalf.

Attorneys Colin Thompson and Robert T. Torres, counsels for businesswoman Jung Ja Kim, and Kim were present in court.

Before calling in the jurors, Manglona first conferred with Dotts, Thompson, and Torres in her chamber.

Manglona later told the jurors that unexpected situations sometimes happen and informed them of the change of schedule for the day.

Manglona ordered the jurors to return to court today, Friday, at 10am to continue with the trial. She excused the jurors at 8:25am.

Dotts told Saipan Tribune that everything is okay and that Frances will continue her testimony. He refused to comment on what happened to Frances.

Saipan Tribune learned that Frances was apparently sick yesterday and that Ramon Quichocho brought her to the hospital.

Thompson cross-examined Frances Wednesday afternoon. He was supposed to continue his questioning yesterday, the 16th day of the trial.

Kim is suing the Quichochos, Quichocho law firm, and their company Karissa LLC for racketeering and other claims. The Quichochos also filed a counterclaim against Kim.
