Torres appoints Monique Sablan as a special assistant for youth affairs
Monique Boyer Sablan has been appointed Special Assistant for Youth Affairs under the Office of the Governor.
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres said Monday that Sablan has been a consistent community volunteer and an advocate for the youth.
“Monique…has played a vital role for the CNMI Scholarship Office by assisting our students navigate the financial aid process to pay for their higher education. Her experience and ability to work with our youth will bring innovation to our youth centers and programs,” Torres said.
Sablan used to serve as the Workforce Program coordinator and public information officer for the CNMI Scholarship Office.
Sablan said it is her goal for the youth centers to become safe havens for the CNMI’s children so they would feel “a sense of security, stability, consistency, and belonging…every time a child steps in to one of the many youth centers.”

“Together with my team, we will create opportunities for the youth to take ownership of the centers with my staff’s guidance and become community leaders through our office. We hope to create a solid mentorship program within the youth centers…,” she said.
Sablan looks forward to solidifying partnerships with agencies and organizations across the CNMI to assist in the many youth programs that are currently being implemented in order to create newer initiatives for youth advancement.
Sablan served as the Marianas March Against Cancer Sponsorship Committee chair in 2018 and 2019 and the CNMI Liberation Day Committee Royal Court chair in 2018. She is also a member of the Stellar Marianas Pageant and Talent Group, which is responsible for the Miss Marianas pageant. She is a former Human Resources & Administration Development supervisor and public relations liaison for Imperial Pacific International.
Sablan received her bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Humanities & Law from the University of California, Irvine. (PR)
