‘As Gonno victims’ legs missing’
Family finally sees remains of slain couple
Family members of a Chinese couple who were found dead inside a burned house in As Gonno last Feb. 23, finally saw the bodies but were surprised to see that one had both legs missing while the other had only one leg.
Qing Ying Zheng, sister of victim Qing Xiu Zheng, told Saipan Tribune yesterday that police finally allowed them to see the bodies at the Commonwealth Health Center’s morgue on Tuesday at 5pm.
Qing Ying Zheng, a store manager, said they were all surprised to see that her sister’s one leg was missing, while the two legs of her sister’s husband, Guo Huang Xu, were gone.
She said they will ask police what happened to the legs because they don’t believe that the fire alone would destroy the legs.
Aside from Qing Ying Zheng and her brother and his wife, family members who saw the bodies were the parents of victim Qing Xiu Zheng, and the father of victim Guo Huang Xu.
The family did not allow the couple’s minor children, ages 13 and 5 years old, to see the bodies.
Qing Ying Zheng said they will have the bodies cremated in Guam before bringing them to China.
The family is offering a $5,000 cash reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the person or persons behind the killing.
Police have classified the death of the victims as a double homicide. The two reportedly died due to smoke inhalation as a result of the fire that razed their house to the ground.
