Japanese media to feature the Marianas

With the commencement of direct flight service between Tokyo and the Marianas by Skymark Airlines Inc., two Japanese media outlets, Genic and Oceana, recently visited the islands to share more about this tropical destination with their followers.
Genic targets women in their 20s and 30s who are interested in travel and photography and brought Japanese Instagrammers and models Anna Haneishi and Anri Nakajima to the Marianas.
Highlighted sites on Rota will include award-winning Teteto Beach, Chenchon Bird Sanctuary, As Nieves Latte Stone Quarry, Rota Swimming Hole, Songsong Lookout, and Senbon Yashi.
Highlighted sites and attractions on Saipan will include parasailing and other activities at Managaha, Saipan Subsea submarine tour, the recent mural of MVA resident Instagrammer Ami Otsuka at the Commonwealth Health Care Corp. and Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport, Micro Beach, and The Shack.
The media group lodged at Hyatt Regency Saipan during their familiarization tour.
Oceana is Japan’s most popular online diving medium and targets divers and snorkelers. The website will feature diving on Tinian, Rota, and Saipan, including popular sites such as cavern Grotto, Laulau Beach, Obyan, Ice Cream, cavern Spotlight, and wreck Shoan-maru. Downtown Garapan and Mt. Tapachao will also be featured.
“It’s significant to see renewed interest in the Marianas by Japanese media, and the Marianas Visitors Authority will continue to support media [familiarization] tours such as these as a strategic use of our available funding,” said acting MVA managing director Judy Torres. “The estimated ad exposure value of these two [familiarization] tours is over $60,000, and we are working to entice more Japanese media to visit as we reboot the Japan market.”
The online media were in the Marianas from March 22 to 29, 2019, and will feature the destination in June prior to the commencement of regular direct flights by Skymark Airlines. (MVA)
