Anti-sexual violence walk on April 24; Family Fun Day on April 27
The Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence is inviting the community to take part in the Walk & Roll Against Sexual Violence on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, in San Roque and the S.A.F.E. Jamboree on Saturday, April 27, 2019.
Registration for the Walk & Roll will start at 5pm at Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School with the walk starting at 5:30pm. The first 100 individuals to register will also receive a free Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2019 T-shirt.
Walk & Roll participants are also encouraged to create signs or banners to help spread awareness on Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which is this April, and on sexual violence and/or to show support for victims and survivors.
This year’s theme for the U.S. and CNMI is “I Ask,” which stresses the importance of consent in ending sexual violence.
The next event is the annual S.A.F.E. Jamboree, which will feature family-friendly entertainment and activities, including music and dance performances, arts and crafts booths, a bounce house, other child-friendly games, and other activities. The event will also feature exhibits by community agencies and programs.
The S.A.F.E. Jamboree will be from 11am to 4pm on April 27, at Garapan Central Park. S.A.F.E. stands for Safe, Aware, Free and Empowered; the aim of the event is to connect the community to a better understanding of sexual violence and learn about available resources.
In addition, NMCADSV will be giving out 200 SAAM 2019 T-shirts, along with other prizes to participants. There will also be a free raffle throughout the event.
