US Naval Hospital Guam to conduct readiness exercise

AGANA HEIGHTS, Guam—The U.S. Naval Hospital Guam will conduct a readiness exercise on April 29, from noon to 4pm, to ensure contingency requirements are up to date.
USNH Guam emergency department will remain open during the date and time indicated. The public should not be alarmed if they see or hear activities associated with the exercise. (PR)

Guam governor to deliver State of the Island Address

HAGÅTÑA, Guam—Gov. Lou A. Leon Guerrero will make her State of the Island Address tomorrow, April 11, at the Guam Congress building in Hagåtña. The event starts promptly at 6:30pm. The address will highlight her first 100 days in office.

Watch the speech live online via the Guam Legislature Media YouTube channel or the PBS Guam YouTube channel. You can also watch live on the Guam Legislature Channel (GTA 21, Docomo 117/60.4) or via the PBS-KGTF Channel (GTA 12, Docomo 12).

Overflow viewing for the public will be available at the Guam Museum Indoor Theater.

Weapons, illegal drugs, alcohol, and loud noise devices are prohibited. Bags may be subject to search.

Parts of Seaton Blvd., Archbishop Flores St., and Chalan Santo Papa Lane will be closed starting 4:30pm. Roads will re-open at 8pm.

A reception will follow at 7:30pm at the Government House. The public is invited to attend. (PR)

Red Cross Walkathon this Saturday

The 33rd Annual American Red Cross Walkathon would be held this Saturday in Susupe at 6am starting at the Guma Sakman building in Susupe and offers 10K, 5K, and 2K courses. Each $20 donation gets you a T-shirt and giveaways. The organization is also giving away free Pacific Islands Club Saipan waterpark passes, a $10 fuel voucher for Mobil, a $5 Arch card for McDonald’s Saipan, and a F’real smoothie or shake for all walkers who are able to raise $75 on their pledge forms. The walkathon would be held on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. (Saipan Tribune)

KCHC closed on April 10 for staff training

The Kagman Community Health Center will be closed on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. The staff and management will be undergoing training. Regular office hours will resume on Thursday, April 11.

To make an appointment or to get information, call 256-KCHC (5242). Walk-ins are welcome depending on availability. Patients with appointments are given priority to be seen.

KCHC is a federally qualified health center that serves all patients regardless of inability to pay. Everyone is welcome, even those that reside outside the Kagman area. (PR)

Walk & Roll in Kagman on April 10

The Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence is inviting community members to take part in the Walk & Roll Against Sexual Violence on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 in Kagman. 

Registration will start at 5pm at Kagman High School with the walk starting at 5:30pm. The first 100 individuals to register will also receive a free T-shirt. 

Walk & Roll participants are also highly encouraged to create signs or banners to help spread awareness on Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which is this April, and on sexual violence and/or to show support for victims and survivors. This year’s theme for the U.S. and CNMI is “I Ask” which stresses the importance of consent in ending sexual violence.
