HANMI Golf Classic set for May 11

The 18th Annual HANMI Charity Classic Golf Tournament will be held on May 11 at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.

“HANMI is pleased to once again announce our annual golf tournament to help raise funds for charities we support through the years,” HANMI chair Gloria Cavanagh said. “In the past year alone, we have supported the Rota Relief Drive for Typhoon Mangkhut Recovery, HANMI Holiday Meal Giveaway for Typhoon Yutu Recovery, Northern Marianas Trades Institute, Marianas Tourism Education Council, Saipan Senior Advisory Council, Saipan Marathon, and more. We thank all our sponsors and players who made this possible through last year’s tournament, and we look forward to another great tournament this year.”
The tournament is open to the first 144 paid registrants. Cash, cars, hotel night stays, and other prizes await the winners.
“The HANMI tournament does not only offer great prizes, but also gives everyone a chance to win, thanks to our popular black-jack double peoria format,” said tournament chairman Steve Balakrishna of Pacific Islands Club Saipan. “Due to Yutu, we, too, are giving golfers a break with an incredible early bird rate of only $100. We encourage everyone to sign up early and join us for a fun day on the course on May 11.”
The early bird tournament fee includes green fee and the awards banquet. The fee increases to $120 after the early bird deadline on Apr. 26. For an additional $30, players may also compete for optional play prizes, including accurate drive on line (west course’s hole No. No. 9), accurate drive circle (No. 5), aggressive drive (No. 12), longest drive (No. 18), and nearest to the pin (No. 3, 7, 13, 17). The tournament will start at 7am, while the awards banquet will be held at the 6pm at Grandvrio Resort.
Sponsors can avail of complimentary player slots for several levels of support: $1,200 or more cash/ 2 two complimentary slots; $600-$1,999 cash/one complimentary slot; or $600 or more in-kind donation/one complimentary slot.
