Marianas Golf Association players had a 1-2 finish in the Inaugural Aluf Luta Golf Tournament held at the Rota Resort last week.

The group’s president J.J. Atalig earned the first place honors in the double-peoria competition, while MGA member Ned Norita came in at second. Joe “Kamikaze” Camacho, Edwin Orilla, and Melvin Batang rounded out the Top 5. Atalig went home with $1,500, while Norita, Camacho, Orilla, and Batang pocketed $800, $500, $300, and $200, respectively. The Top 5 placers also received trophies.

Besides his third place finish, Camacho also made a longest drive shot on hole No. 11 and had the best gross scores (74). Chloe Hocog was the other winner in the low gross category after firing an 82 in the women’s field and she and Camacho were awarded trophies and $200 each.

In other results, Norita duplicated Camacho’s longest drive shot on hole No. 1, while closest to the pin winners were Darren Santos (hole No. 3), Tito Hocog (No. 7), Domingo Atalig (No. 12), and Henry Mangloña (No. 14).

Around 50 golfers from the host, Saipan, and Guam joined the tournament, which was organized by Rota Golf Association president Arvin Ogo and supported by Ambros Guam and Rota Mayor Efrain Atalig. (Saipan Tribune)
