Torres thanks Concepcion, Kaipat’s service

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres is thankful for the services of Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Chris A. Concepcion and board member Cinta M. Kaipat in helping promote the CNMI.
Torres said Concepcion has served the MVA exceptionally. “[Concepcion is] an excellent ambassador for the Marianas to the world, especially to our major visitor markets. He’s been a consummate professional and exemplified the qualities needed to promote our islands and work with our tourism partners.”
“His knowledge and connection with the airlines and the Japanese market were instrumental in the progress of MVA, the growth of tourism to its highest levels since 1997, and securing Skymark Airlines Inc. as a new partner for our islands.”
He added that Concepcion’s work extends beyond his duties at MVA. “He also served as a role model for every aspiring young professional in our community. I and Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios valued his judgment always.”
As for Kaipat, the former lawmaker’s effort in championing the local culture and the environment got much praise
“Cinta’s expertise as a cultural advocate of our islands left an indelible impact on the board and the direction of MVA,” said Torres. “She believed that the best marketing tool of the Marianas is one that is centered on the people, the culture, and environment.”
Torres said that both Concepcion and Kaipat will be missed by the MVA board but both would remain active in helping the community.
Concepcion made known his decision to leave the MVA in last Tuesday’s board meeting, while Kaipat sent her letter of resignation to MVA board chair Marian Aldan-Pierce the same day.
Concepcion, who joined the MVA in April 2016, will have until April 12 at his post. Torres appointed Kaipat to the MVA board last July.
