The Friends of the Arts welcomes internationally renowned classical pianist, Roman Rudnytsky, who is back on Saipan for another visit to spread his love of music.

The FOA will sponsor two special concerts during Rudnytsky’s visit, called Magic Spring Music, and will feature differing selections each night from classical masters such as Chopin, Albeniz, Beethoven, Debussy, Liszt, Rachmaninoff and other musical greats.

The concerts will be held on March 16 and 23, at the Hyatt Regency Saipan ballroom. Each concert will have different selections of music. The award-winning Marianas High School Glee Club will also entertain during intermission with a selection of songs.

These concerts of classical music are open to the public at no entrance charge. Voluntary sponsoring donations will be accepted.

This is not a dinner event but the Hyatt will have food and beverages available for purchase.

The doors will open at 6:30pm and the concert will begin at 7pm.

Reservations can be made by contacting Frank Gibson by phone or text at 287-7476 or by email at flgibson@yahoo.com.

The concerts are “a rare opportunity to listen to live classical music, played by a master pianist,” according to an FOA statement.

Rudnytsky is an internationally active concert pianist of Ukrainian background whose frequent performances take him all over the world. In addition to performances in capital cities and musical centers, he often plays in places away from the musical mainstream, bringing the world and pleasure of classical music to audiences which seldom experience this type of music in live performance. He has received much acclaim in the world’s press and many repeat invitations.

A graduate of the Julliard School in New York, he also did additional studies at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland and at master classes in Austria (the “Mozarteum”) and Italy.
Since 1972, Rudnytsky has been a member of the piano faculty of the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. He is a recipient of that institution’s “Distinguished Professor Award” in recognition of his concert activities.

He previously served on the piano faculties of the Indiana University School of Music (Bloomington, Indiana) and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory, in addition to being “artist-in-residence” at two Australian universities.

During his two-week visit to Saipan, he will travel to many CNMI schools, playing and discussing music with the students.

This is Rudnytsky’s 10th trip to the CNMI.

Rudnytsky travels at his own expense and donates his time to the community. The FOA, with the help of sponsors from the community, have hosted some of Rudnytsky’s previous stays.

Among the sponsors who are making this visit possible are the Hyatt Regency Saipan, Bridge Capital, IT&E, Drs. Edgar and Susan Tudor, Hertz Car Rental, KLCarr, Brabu Pharmacy, Dental Care, Triple J Saipan, Everest Kitchen, Toothworks Dental Clinic, PHI Pharmacy, Marianas Variety, Paradise Dental Center, Hardt Eye Clinic, JET Realty and J’s Restaurant, Yaong Corp., Transamerica, Marianas Medical Services, Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan, Kanoa Resort, Green Meadows School, Topnotch, Thompson Law Office, and HR Support CNMI.

The Friends of the Arts invites the community to come and enjoy this special opportunity and an evening of magical music. (PR)
