GMS Falcons shine at regional speech contests

Green Meadow School students, more popularly known as the Falcons after their school mascot, did well at two recent speech competitions, with one being the school’s most number of wins so far.

GMS middle school students competed in the National Junior Speech and Debate Association competition, which was held for five days—Feb. 12-16, 2019—at Mount Carmel School.

The school’s middle school students also took part in the Junior International Thespian Society regional competition this school year last Feb. 9, 2019.

According to a school statement, this year’s NJSDA competition was Green Meadow School’s most number of wins.   

The following individuals won these events in NJSDA: Christian Ted Pamintuan (8th grade) placed third in Declamation and fifth in Original Oratory, Ariel Legaspi (7th grade) placed fourth in Humorous Interpretation and fifth in Dramatic Interpretation, Areeza Gaile Anda (7th grade) placed fifth in Poetry, Joseph JImenez (7th grade) placed fifth in Declamation, and Arnel Josh Coloma (7th grade) placed fifth in Storytelling. Kaena Tabora (7th grade) got into the semifinals in Dramatic Interpretation.

The following students are also commended for performing their best: Sabino Cabrera (8th grade), Danielle Nicole Sacramento (7th grade), and 6th graders Chris Vecina, Raiden Roquelara, Buien Joseph Din.

GMS students who did well in the JITS included 6th graders Arro Solana Hunter and Daniel Gonzales, who placed third in Duet Musical with a superior ranking and 8th graders Angelene Faith Cacdac and Jazmyn Phoeme Lopez, who got an excellent ranking. Congratulations to Raeka Lantin, Darren Tabora, Kaena Tabora, and Honey June Satur for doing their best in the finals. Duet Acting pairs John Cavinta and Samuallino Cabrera advanced to the finals, while Chealzka Navarro and Samantha Mangalinao, and 7th graders Danielle Nicole Sacramento and Arnel Josh Coloma did a good job too. Arro Solana Hunter, 6th grader, competed in the finals for her Solo Musical. Seventh Graders- Ariel Legaspi, Darren Tabora, and Areeza Anda made it to Monologue finals. The following students reached the semifinal round in Monologue event: Sabino Cabrera,Ted Pamintuan, Danielle Nicole Sacramento, and Chealzka Navarro.

The school acknowledged the hard work of coach Lorelisa Espiritu and thanks the middle school parents and teachers for their support. The judges who served during the competitions were Grace Mendoza, Chekinah Coloma, and Rowena Coloma. (PR)
